Miss Hollis Stacy, of Savannah, Ga., became only the second to win consecutive Girls' Junior Championships when she defeated Miss Janet Aulisi, of West Caldwell, N.J., 1 up, at the Apawamis Club, Rye, N.Y. Miss Stacy had won in 1969 and was eligible to play again in 1970.
She had one close match, defeating Miss Mollie Anderson, of Morro Bay, Calif., in 19 holes in the first round. Miss Elizabeth Pooley, of Gainesville, Fla., and Miss Mary Budke, of Dayton, Ore., were the losing semi-finalists.
Miss Budke eliminated Miss Nancy Hager, of Dallas, 4 and 3, in the first round. Miss Hager was a member of the U.S. Curtis Cup Team. Miss Louise Bruce, of La Mesa, Calif., was the medalist with 163. |
