Miss Peggy Conley, 17,of Spokane, Wash., who had been runnerup in both the 1963 Girls' Junior and Women's Amateur Championships, had little trouble winning the Girls' title in 1964. She was the medalist at 154 and no opponent carried her past the 16th hole in five matches.
Miss Conley was later selected as a member of the Curtis Cup Team, the youngest so honored. Miss Laura MacIvor, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., lost by 6 and 5 in the final match; Miss Conley was even par for the 13 holes.
Miss Janie Ferraris, of San Francisco, the 1963 Champion, lost in the quarter-final round to Miss Lou Dill, Houston, Texas, by 1 up. |
