A Look At The Semifinalists

In-Bee Park, 14, of Eustis, Fla., is playing in her second Girls’ Junior. In 2001, she made it to the final 32 of match play. She was this year’s medalist with a score of 141, 5 under par. She has been playing golf since the age of 10. She was born in Seoul, Korea, but moved to the U.S. to pursue her dreams in golf. She attends 8th grade at Christian Home & Bible School. She enjoys playing the piano, computer games and swimming. Some of her recent wins include: 2002 AJGA Girls’ Junior, 2002 Florida State Girls’ Junior and 2001 Westfield PGA Junior. She was a 2001 AJGA Polo All-American Honorable Mention. Her career low is 66 at Mission Inn in the 2001 Florida Junior Invitational.

Allison Martin
Allison Martin, 16, of Bakersfield, Calif., is playing in her third Girls’ Junior. She made it to the second round of match play in the 2001 Girls’ Junior. She has been playing golf since she was 8. She will be a senior at Centennial High School, where she has a 4.0 GPA. Some of her hobbies include: playing piano, listening to music, shopping, working-out, and playing other sports. She was first team 2001 AJGA Polo All-American. Some of her recent wins include: 2001 AJGA Legendary Headwear Junior, 2001 AJGA Mission Hills and 2001 AJGA Quail Ranch Junior.

Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana
Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana, 17, of Long Beach, Calif., is playing in her third Girls’ Junior, her first to make the cut. She began playing golf at the age of 8½. She will be a senior at Long Beach Woodrow Wilson. She volunteers at a local hospital when she is not playing golf. She was named a 2001 AJGA Junior Compaq Scholastic All-American. Before she competes in a tournament, she usually drinks orange juice for a lucky charm/superstition. Some of her recent wins include the 2001 Yorba Linda Junior and 2001 Len Kennett Junior Classic. Last November, Jennifer’s parents passed away in an automobile accident returning home from a tournament. Jennifer and her best friend survived the accident. Jennifer’s brother, Tommy, is here this week to support her.

Hannah Jun
Hannah Jun, 16, of San Diego, Calif., is competing in her second Girls’ Junior. Last year she made it to match play but lost in the first round 3 and 1. She has been playing golf since her was 11. She will be a senior in the fall at Torrey Pines High School. For her lucky charm, she puts three dots on her golf ball for her three members of her family. She enjoys running and reading when she is not playing golf. She was the 2000 & 2001 San Diego AJGA Player of the year and a member of the San Diego Athlete Hall of Fame. Her recent victories include the 2002 Toyota Cup Series and the 2001 and 2000 CIF Championships.
