| 13 through 15, Echo Lake's version of "Amen Corner"
US Open Champion Larry Nelson stated, after watching his son participate
in the 1994 US Junior Amateur, that holes 13 through 18 are "US Open
holes," and that #13 begins Echo Lake's version of "Amen Corner."
The 13th hole is a solid and long par 4 that has a green with subtle undulations
and difficulties. 14 is a long par 3 that penalizes off center shots,
and 15 is a test that can reward the long hitters. Shooting par for these
three holes in competition will be an admirable feat. Many fine rounds
have disappeared at 13, 14, and 15, but there really is nothing tricky
about these holes: they are simply long, tough tests of golf! |
